2-days cultural trip to Okayama, Himeji and Kobe

Overview

Stone Go table in Yakage Yakage town is said to be the origin of Go in Japan. Kibi no Makibi, a famous scholar in the Nara period, visited China (Tang dynasty) and brought lots of cultural goods to Japan. The game of Go and the art of embroidery were the most notable ones.
Kurashiki is a historic city known for its importance as rice distribution center in the Edo period. The name Kurashiki can be roughly translated as "town of warehouses", which refers to the warehouses where the rice was kept. Today many of these former warehouses have been converted into museums, boutiques and cafes. Kurashiki warehouses
Himeji Castle Himeji Castle is also known as the White Heron Castle due to its brilliant white exterior and its resemblance to a bird taking flight. Originally built in the 14th century, the castle complex was significantly expanded during Sengoku period (16th century). Himeji Castle is one of the very few castles in Japan that remained intact for more than 400 years.
Kobe beef is a world-famous delicacy from Japan. Premium quality cattles are raised in a special way, resulting in an unique marbled texture and extreme tenderness.

Our last stop of the trip will be in Kobe where everyone can either enjoy a Kobe steak dinner or the beautiful harbor city.
